The City of Lloydminster council issued its 2026 proclamations at the regular meeting on Nov. 24.

Council proclaimed July 6, 2026, to July 11, 2026, as Lloyd Ex Fair Week and Nov. 4, 2026, to Nov. 11, 2026, as Veteran’s and Poppy Week.

Coun. Michele Charles Gustafson asked if the organizations have to reapply every year to receive a proclamation.

“I believe the first week in October is the deadline. So, yes, they do have to reapply every year,” said Dion Pollard, city manager. “Last year, we had three. We had the CPCA Chuckwagons as the only other one that was additional to last year.”

While the city may not be able to attend every event, Mayor Gerald Aalbers says they make every effort to support where they can.

“What I’ve offered to every organization in the city that’s asked for a proclamation is, certainly myself or deputy mayor or a member of council to attend, bring greetings and help promote the organization and their event at that time,” he said.

“We may not do a proclamation, but we certainly support all the organizations in our community and (are) quite willing to try and make that appearance.”

An application form is available on the city’s website, which outlines the criteria for a proclamation. All proclamations are reviewed and approved by council.

According to the city, only two proclamation requests were received.
