Hundseth Power Line Construction pleaded guilty in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 25 to one count under the province’s occupational health and safety regulations.
The charge stemmed from an incident on April 16, 2023, near Canora, Sask., where a worker sustained serious injuries while working on a power pole.
The company admitted to failing to provide the necessary information, instruction, training, and supervision required to protect the health and safety of its employees.
The court imposed a $50,000 fine plus a $20,000 victim surcharge. One additional charge against the company was withdrawn.
Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety says it continues to work with employers to eliminate workplace injuries through education and enforcement.
