The provincial government announced Wednesday that the application period for the 2026-27 Saskatchewan Veterans Service Club Support Program is officially open. Organizations such as Royal Canadian Legion branches and Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) units have until May 15 to submit their requests.
The program, established in 2019, offers grants of up to $30,000 to help non-profit veteran organizations maintain long-term sustainability through infrastructure improvements and community events.
“Our government is proud to continue to support veterans, their families, and their communities through this program,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said in a statement.
Ross visited Legion Branch 133 in Stoughton to highlight the impact of the funding. The branch has received more than $113,000 since the program’s inception, including $27,000 last year to renovate its kitchen and upgrade its fire suppression system.
Karen Coderre, secretary for Branch 133, said the upgrades were essential for meeting health standards.
“Without the help of the service grant we would not have been able to do all these updates,” Coderre said, noting that the branch now plans to use 2026 funding to improve energy efficiency at its main entrance.
In the 2025-26 cycle, the province distributed $1.45 million among 67 different veterans’ organizations.
Groups interested in applying can find eligibility guidelines through the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command.
