AMUNDRUD: It is with heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of our beloved matriarch. Linda Joyce Amundrud was born on November 17th, 1956 in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan and passed away suddenly on April 11th, 2026 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Linda is fondly remembered by: her loving husband of 47 years, Don Amundrud; her children Amanda (Jody), Dean (Sheryll) and Lindsey (Lindsay); She is cherished by her grandchildren, Olive, Lars, Dorien, Emmet, Carter, Jakub, Zoe and all the kids that sat around her kitchen table. She was predeceased by: her granddaughter, Eva Raine Eaton; parents, Robert and Joyce Hougham and Thomas and Agnes Amundrud; along with many dear family and friends. A Private Memorial has been held. Donations in memory of Linda may be made to Terry Fox Foundation. Mom was the farmer and Dad was the oil guy. She never cared for a brag story, but we are about to lay one down anyway! For decades, Mom ran the farm largely on her own while Dad worked away. She could handle any piece of equipment in the yard, spending long days in the field before coming in to cook a full farm table meal – often topped off with one of her legendary homemade pies. If you’ve ever had her pie, you know exactly what we mean. The deep freeze is still full and we plan to ration them for as long as possible. She learned to bake from her mom and, despite her best efforts to teach us, none of us ever quite got it right. We can’t help but wonder if we even have the entire recipe! When Dad came back to the farm full time, there was some friendly competition over who would be crowned cattle boss. Truth be told, Mom had already claimed the title – Dad never really had a chance. They each ran their own balers, keeping a running contest over who made the best bales (and yes, she always won). Dad admits that in more than 40 years of calving, she was only ever skunked once while grafting a calf – by a particularly ornery heifer, and yes, that heifer was shipped within a week! Mom was a straight shooter and you always knew where you stood with her. She was competitive by nature – “you never go into a game to lose,” she liked to say. Whether she was playing hockey with the grandkids, racing us across the yard, or holding her titles as a track champ in her youth, she always found another gear. Mom loved to fish and took great pride in out fishing Dad. Even into her forties, we still couldn’t beat her. Every morning – at home, in Mexico, the lake or out fishing – she and Dad would play crib over coffee. They even kept a running tally and Dad was usually left in the dust. While we have been making light of Mom’s super competitive nature, she was always incredibly encouraging and supportive. She attended endless extracurricular activities cheering on generations of kids. She showed up. She made time count. She made them feel seen. There will definitely be a void. Mom lived by the rhythm of the land. She loved planting in spring, tending to her huge garden, and keeping her yard beautiful. Now, we plan to carry that rhythm forward -planting flowers, putting seeds in the ground (after May long, of course) and caring for the farm with the same love, energy and dedication she gave to all of us. There are some very big shoes to fill. Mom had a huge Love for her family and totally cherished her grandchildren. She was dedicated to spending time building deep connections with each and every one of them. They all have a very special bond with Grandma Linda. Mom always said you don’t need a lot of friends, but you need good friends who are there for you. She had friends that she would talk to almost every day. Linda, Mom, Grandma, you have left a huge impact on those people you were dear to and you will be truly missed. You were our Rock and a Very Special Lady. Life as we know it will be changed forever. We all Love you so much and we hold close all the precious memories we have. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
