Lloydminster city council has approved a new one-year collective agreement with the Lloydminster Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 5182, providing local firefighters with a 3.5 per cent wage increase for 2025.

The agreement, ratified by union membership on Aug. 6, covers the period from Jan. 1, 2025, to Dec. 31, 2025.
Under the new terms, the base salary for a first-class firefighter will rise to $119,867, up from $115,813.43 under the previous contract that expired at the end of 2024. All existing rank indexes will be maintained relative to the new first-class firefighter rate.
Council also authorized $143,000 to be drawn from the Fire Rescue Services Operating Reserve to cover the 2025 retroactive portion of wages.
Total retroactive payments from Jan. 1, 2025, to Aug. 17, 2026, are estimated at $258,000, with the remaining $115,000 funded through the 2026 salary and wage budget.
Retroactive wage payments are scheduled to be disbursed within 60 days of final ratification.
