RCMP officers in Lloydminster have begun sporting a new look as part of nationwide efforts to modernize police attire.

Starting Aug. 15, officers at detachments across Alberta, including Lloydminster, began wearing new navy-blue uniform shirts. The rollout is occurring on a province-by-province basis.
Members of the public are advised that officers may continue wearing the previous grey uniform shirts for the foreseeable future. As a result, residents may see officers wearing either grey or blue shirts while on duty.
Mounties acknowledge that the new colour scheme could cause confusion, particularly given recent incidents of police impersonation in the region.
Anyone with concerns about the identity of an officer they are interacting with is encouraged to request official identification. Residents can also call their local detachment’s non-emergency line to verify whether an officer is present at their location.
