On May 22, Tim Hortons announced a new Lloydminster restaurant location as part of a $400-million nationwide expansion and renovation push.

Unlike most Canadian communities seeing simple updates, Lloydminster will secure a brand-new Tim Hortons build this year.

The new location is slated for the upcoming Costco development on 75 Ave., according to sources close to Meridian Source.

Tim Hortons was built in Canada by Canadians and we are proud to continue investing in Canada to give our guests beautiful, modern restaurants to enjoy,” Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons, said in a news release. “These are Canadian families investing their own money in their own communities – and that’s something we’re proud of.”

The local development is part of a broader $13-million provincial investment by Saskatchewan restaurant owners. Across the province, franchisees are opening three brand-new locations and renovating 12 others.

According to the company, the new Lloydminster location will feature the brand’s updated, modern look. This includes a revamped digital ordering and mobile pickup area, upgraded kitchen equipment and a redesigned showcase to highlight its baked goods.

The company noted that the construction will rely heavily on Canadian resources, including custom furniture handcrafted in Montreal using 100 per cent Canadian-sourced maple.

Nationally, the chain’s $400-million strategy will see 1,500 restaurant owners build or renovate 480 locations across the country through 2026.

An exact opening date and specific location for the new Lloydminster restaurant have not yet been announced.
