North Battleford man, 62, killed in Highway 40 motorcycle crash

A 62-year-old man is dead following a two-motorcycle collision on Highway 40 near Battleford, Sask., over the weekend.

Battlefords RCMP say emergency crews were called to the scene at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 11.

According to investigators, two motorcycles collided on the highway. Local fire departments and EMS attended the scene and one of the riders was pronounced dead while being transported to hospital.

Police have since identified him as a 62-year-old resident of North Battleford. His family has been notified.

The driver of the second motorcycle was taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Police say neither motorcycle was carrying any passengers at the time of the crash.

The Battlefords detachment continues to investigate the cause of the collision with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
