Deets lifts Bobcats past Grizzlys in OT victory

The Lloydminster Bobcats completed a second-period comeback and pulled out a 4-3 overtime win against the Olds Grizzlys in Alberta Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Olds Sportsplex.

Dylan Deets netted the unassisted winner 1:56 into the extra frame to capped off a two-point performance and secure Lloydminster’s second consecutive victory.

Finn Bagley opened the scoring for Olds (3-1-0-0) late in the first period, and Max Malinousky doubled the Grizzlys’ lead early in the second frame.

Lloydminster (2-3-0-0) responded with three goals in the second period. AJ Tarnowski put the Bobcats on the board at 6:45, though Gavin Faul quickly restored Olds’ lead with a power-play marker. Jaxan Hopko tied the game for Lloydminster on a power play at 14:03 and Jack Ferguson put the visitors ahead late in the period.

Following a scoreless third period, Deets sealed the win early in overtime.

Bobcats goaltender Sam Madgett turned aside 34 of 37 shots to earn the win, while Ryan Burroughs made 31 saves for the Grizzlys in the loss.

Lloydminster finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while Olds went 1-for-4.
