The province announced the application window on Oct. 7, 2026, coinciding with Agriculture Week, according to the Government of Saskatchewan.

How to apply for the 2027 Agriculture Student Scholarship

Students interested in applying are directed to the ministry’s online application portal, where eligibility requirements and submission details are posted.

The scholarship program has run in previous years for students pursuing agriculture, agri-business and related fields of study, with the province opening applications for the 2025 version of the scholarship in December 2024.

Applicants are encouraged to review the full criteria and deadline information on the province’s website before submitting materials, as requirements can vary year to year.

Scholarship amounts and who can apply

The 2027 scholarship’s top award is set at $6,000, according to the province, with the program historically supporting students enrolled in agriculture-related diploma, certificate and degree programs.

Saskatchewan’s agriculture sector relies heavily on a steady pipeline of trained graduates, and the scholarship is designed to help offset the cost of post-secondary education for students committed to careers in the field.

What it means for Lloydminster-area students

The announcement is of particular interest to farm families and students on both sides of the Saskatchewan-Alberta border, including those enrolled in agriculture programs at Lakeland College’s agriculture program in Vermilion.

Local scholarship support has been a recurring story for area students; a Holy Rosary High School graduate was recently awarded a $30,000 scholarship for post-secondary studies, underscoring the value of applying early and widely for available funding.

Students with questions about eligibility for the Saskatchewan-specific program, including residency or enrolment requirements, are advised to contact the Ministry of Agriculture directly or consult the application page for full details.
