Six ounces of meth lands Maidstone women charges

On Feb. 27 at 1:30 a.m., Maidstone RCMP officers came upon two vehicles stuck in the ditch at the entrance of Maidstone.

Three occupants were attempting to dig their vehicles out of the snow, when one occupant fled in the field on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and officers located and arrested the individual on 6th Avenue. When she was searched, officers located and seized 6 ounces of suspected methamphetamine.

Louisa Simpson, 24, of Lloydminster was charged with :

– Obstructing a police officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code

– Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Louisa Simpson appeared in court on March 2. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 4 at 2 p.m.
