Resurfacing failed areas of road along 44 Street (Highway 16) are underway between 48 Ave and 55 Ave.
Crews are currently working on the south side of 44 Street. During this time, the 50 Ave. (Highway 17) and 52 Avenue intersections are closed to motorists travelling east/west and wanting to turn south. Those travelling east are unable to turn north on 50 Ave. from 44 Street.
Once the south side of the highway is completed, motorists are advised that traffic flow will transition to the south side of the highway. Once the transition occurs, the 50 Ave. (Highway 17) and 52 Ave. intersections will be closed to motorists travelling east/west and wanting to turn north. Eastbound travellers will be unable to turn north on 50 Ave. or 52 Ave.
Highway 16 and the two intersections will see the resurfacing of failed areas of the road.
Weather permitting, the entirety of the project along the highway is expected to be completed by Aug. 31.
Motorists are reminded to allow extra time for travel, slow down when driving in construction zones, and obey all signs, detours, and barriers. Motorists are strongly encouraged to find alternate routes until project completion.
