Vermilion RCMP charge man with firearm/drug possession

On July 9 at approximately 4 p.m., Vermilion RCMP executed a CDSA search warrant at a local residence. The search warrant was granted as a result of a weeks-long investigation regarding the alleged selling of illicit drugs from the residence. A search of the residence revealed the following:

  • A firearm
  • Approximately 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine

As a result of the investigation, Mark Cameron, 49, a resident of Vermilion, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a firearm contrary to lifetime prohibition x 2
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of suspected Methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with release order

Cameron was held for a judicial interim release hearing. Following the hearing, Cameron was remanded with court set for July 11, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
