The Holy Rosary High School track and field facility is undergoing improvements, including repairs to the track, addition of javelin and discus areas and upgrading to the shot put area.
Lloydminster Catholic School Division (LCSD) staff are excited about the opportunities the project will bring, such as hosting zones and provincials.
“This is a game-changer for our students,” said Paula Scott, LCSD trustee. “For years, we’ve had to turn away opportunities to host larger competitions like zones and provincials because our facilities just weren’t up to par.”
The grant they received from the Alberta government made the project possible. The upgrades are being funded in part by an $88,000 community enhancement grant from the Alberta government, with the school matching that funding.
“There were only a handful of successful bids in my constituency, and I’m very glad Holy Rosary was one of them,” said Alberta MLA Garth Rowswell.
Roswell says everyone is excited about the new opportunities these facility upgrades will provide for students. The LCSD staff are appreciative of the grant funding and the ongoing improvements being made to the school’s facilities.
