Early morning sirens and loud bangs awoke some individuals Sunday morning as the Lloydminster Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in the 5100 block of 36 St.
Lloydminster RCMP were able to provide the Meridian Source with more information regarding the nature of the call, starting with when the vehicle was stolen.
“On July 27 at 9:15 p.m. a male reported his black 2008 Ford Taurus had been stolen from the Lloydminster Civic Centre at 5405 49 Ave. The vehicle was locked and the owner had the keys,” stated the e-mail.
“On July 28 at 2:30 a.m. Lloydminster RCMP received a report of a vehicle on fire in the Glenwood Village parking lot at 5111 36 St. The Lloydminster Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire. When ownership checks were conducted, it was discovered that the burnt vehicle had been stolen earlier in the night. The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information they can call the Lloydminster Detachment at 780-808-8300.”
