Today is election day in Lloydminster, and residents are heading to the polls to vote for the next City of Lloydminster Council.
Fourteen candidates are vying for council seats, including Michele Charles Gustafson, Sara Christie, Michael Diachuk, Darrell Dunn, Barry Helm, Tanner Hnidey, Tracy King, David Lopez, Jean Mills Applegate, Russell Moncrieff, Fred Sirett Sr., Jim Taylor, Justin Vance, and Jason Whiting. Mayor Aalbers was re-elected by acclamation.
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. across four locations in the city:
- Nissan Hall, Exhibition Grounds (5521 49 Avenue)
- Lloydminster Canadian Tire Fieldhouse, Servus Sports Centre (5202 12 Street)
- Mike’s Oilfield Services Fieldhouse, Servus Sports Centre (5202 12 Street)
- Main Hall, Legacy Centre (5101 46 Street)
After polls close, residents can find unofficial election results starting at 8 p.m. at Lloydminster.ca/LiveResults. These results will include votes from the four regular polls, advance voting held from October 29 to November 9, and mail-in ballots. Official results, verified by the Returning Officer, will be released on November 14.
There will be no vote for Mayor as Gerald Aalbers was acclaimed last month.
