Barry Dale Petruk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Petruk of Lloydminster, Alberta on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the age of 64. He will forever be in our hearts and lovingly remembered by: his wife, Lucille “Lue” and their children, Tara and Kevin; his mother, Georgette; sisters-in-law, Janice Petruk and her children, Natasha and Ben; Lilianne (Ensley) Burgess; Gisele (Richard) McLeod and their children, Ashley and Brandon; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry and his brothers, Randy and Ryan. Barry was born and raised in St. Paul, Alberta. He attended the University of Alberta, where he took several courses before deciding to obtain a zoology degree. A few years later, Barry received his Chemical Technologist Certificate at NAIT. Afterwards he worked at Syncrude in Fort McMurray, and at the Upgrader in Lloydminster. Barry had a variety of hobbies in his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching all kinds of wildlife. He loved to spend time in the kitchen, especially cooking a turkey dinner. His favorite pastimes were nurturing his garden and harvesting it in the fall. Barry was intellectual and enjoyed learning about business, finance, the world and the weather. He loved watching a good game of baseball or hockey. He was looking forward to more travel with the family in his retirement years. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the nurses, residents, and specialists in the ICU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, for their excellent care and compassion. Special thanks to trauma surgeon Dr. Anantha and intensivist Dr. Macala, for their exemplary expertise and kindness. The family would also like to thank the nurses who cared for Barry so well at the Lloydminster Hospital, especially the evening he was first airlifted.
