The Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) raised more than $250,000 to support local healthcare and upgrade Lloydminster Hospital’s cancer care unit.
The foundation’s 24th annual health foundation gala, themed around the Moulin Rouge and presented by Richardson’s Jewellery, brought in $200,625.

The funds directly support the newly launched A New Home For Hope campaign, which aims to relocate the hospital’s Cancer Care Unit into a facility designed for improved patient comfort, upgraded treatment equipment, and enhanced dignity for individuals undergoing care.
Meanwhile, the second annual Synergy Sunrise Run on May 9 generated $58,927 for Project Sunrise, a local mental health initiative.
The sold-out event featured a new seven-kilometre route and introduced the Kids Mini Mile and Mini to Mighty Challenge. Sponsors for the run included Synergy Credit Union, Horizon Ag & Turf, Lloydminster & District Co-op, Harris Electric, Connect Sport and Holistic Pain Solutions.

In addition to major events, local businesses and civic organizations have contributed significant funds to local medical infrastructure:
- Diagnostic Imaging Upgrades: A joint $95,000 investment between the LRHF and the Saskatchewan Health Authority brought a new ultrasound machine to the Lloydminster Hospital. Funding was secured through $75,000 in combined donations from the Knights of Columbus and the Behnke Family, along with $20,000 from the Lloydminster Rotary Club.
- Cancer Care Support: The Lakeland College Rustlers Women’s Hockey team contributed proceeds from their five-year Hockey Fights Cancer campaign toward the cancer unit relocation. Additionally, the I Love Alberta Boobs organization and event attendees from Rock For A Cure directed donations toward funding comfort care packages for local cancer patients.
- Community Donors: Schiller, Spence & Associates – IG Private Wealth Management, the Lloydminster Lions Club, and the Lloydminster Kinsmen Club also provided major financial contributions toward the foundation’s regional health operations.
Looking ahead, the foundation will host its annual Gift To Health Livestream Dodgeball Tournament, presented by Cenovus Energy, on Nov. 10.
The interactive tournament aims to raise additional funds for the A New Home For Hope campaign.
Over the past seven years, the livestream initiative has raised more than $1.5 million for medical technology, including diagnostic imaging units, medication distribution machines, and youth mental health programs.
