RCMP arrest Lloyd man after recovering stolen vehicles

A 29-year-old Lloydminster resident is facing several charges after RCMP recovered stolen vehicles and parts during a search at a Kitscoty-area mechanic shop.

The individual remains in custody has yet to be named. Charges pending include:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (x4)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking
  • Trafficking of stolen property under $5,000

Kitscoty RCMP launched an investigation on May 27 after receiving a report of stolen truck parts being sold on Facebook Marketplace.

With help from the Lloydminster RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) and the Alberta RCMP Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, officers executed a search warrant at the business.

Kitscoty RCMP: 3,932 stolen vehicles in Alta this year

Police say the suspect had been stealing vehicles and dismantling them at the shop to sell the parts online.

During the search, investigators recovered four stolen vehicles and one stolen licence plate. The vehicles had been reported stolen from Lloydminster, Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and Maidstone, Sask.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Aug. 12.
