The City of Lloydminster was included in a special weather statement at 6:56 p.m. MDT on Aug. 3.
The statement, issued by Environment Canada, says conditions will be favourable for the development of funnel clouds today.
Thunderstorms have developed in eastern Alberta and will continue through the evening hours. Some of these storms have resulted in funnel clouds in the Edmonton and Hardisty area.
The weather services advises people treat any funnel cloud sighting seriously.
“Should a funnel cloud develop nearby, prepare to take shelter. These funnel clouds usually appear with little or no warning,” read the statement.
