Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, according to Environment Canada.
The weather service placed Lloydminster under a severe thunderstorm watch at 11:21 a.m. on Aug. 20.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.
