Vermilion RCMP arrest one after shots fired

A 49-year-old resident of Vermilion has been arrested after RCMP responded to a report of a male with a gunshot wound.

Vermilion RCMP received the report on Aug. 23, at approximately 7:15 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they determined the suspect fled the scene on foot and he was in possession of a firearm.

A shelter in place was initiated for the immediate area. The suspect was located at a local residence and arrested shortly after 9 p.m.

Bradley Friesen had been charged with, aggravated assault, discharge firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm.

Friesen was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Vegreville on Sept. 8.

The man who was shot received non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering.
