The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes says Charlie Keelan was arrested in Sept. 2024 for offences that occurred between 1997 and 2020 when he was an officer in Quaqtaq, Nunavik.

They say the former Kativik Regional Police Force officer pleaded guilty to five charges, including sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a teenager in a relationship of dependency or authority.

A news release at the time of his arrest said the victims were 15 and 16 years old when the offences occurred.

The sentence was delivered Tuesday at the Quaqtaq courthouse.

The BEI says Keelan’s arrest last year came after a months-long investigation that was requested by Quebec’s public security department.
