The Village of Kitscoty now has six candidates for its upcoming municipal election after reopening the nomination period due to a lack of candidates.
The initial Sept. 22 deadline for nominations only fielded four candidates, which fell short of the required five council seats.
Incumbent Mayor Joyce Bell will once again be running for a seat alongside incumbent councillors Kevin Miciak, Daryl Frank and Geoff Barr.
Newcomers to the ballot include Ida Earl-Grocock and Heather Perryman.
A candidate meet and greet is being held at the Village Chambers Office at 5015 50 St. in Kitscoty from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8.
Voting for the election will take place on Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kitscoty Community Hall.
