A new guide has been launched by the City of Lloydminster in an effort to help connect seniors with resources they need.
The new Seniors Supports Guide was launched during the Oct. 2 Seniors Lunch and Learn event.

“The Seniors Supports Directory is an important initiative from the City of Lloydminster’s Social Programs and Services department (SPS),” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers.
It’s designed to help residents aged 65 and older connect with local services and programs.
“It was developed in consultation with local seniors to provide information about the many resources and services that can help improve their quality of life,” he said.
The guide is tailored to the unique needs of seniors. It highlights supports across nine categories, financial support, seniors housing, transportation, access to health and services, mental health, safety and security, recreation, general services and places of worship.
“With many seniors moving to Lloydminster from surrounding communities, this directory will help them navigate our bi-provincial supports and ensure they can continue to age well in our community,” said Aalbers.
The guide was developed in response to feedback from residents and service providers who participated in the Lloyd Needs Assessment, which highlighted the importance of accessible, reliable information for older adults.
Printed copies of the guide are available at city hall or online at Lloydminster.ca/seniorsupports.
“I encourage both seniors and those who support seniors in their lives to explore this guide and learn more about the programs and services available to help our residents stay connected and supported,” said Aalbers.
