Meadow Lake RCMP’s crime reduction team has charged two men after seizing drugs, weapons and stolen property from a vehicle that fled from police earlier this week.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle connected to an ongoing investigation on Dec. 9. The driver refused to pull over and sped away, but the vehicle became stuck in a ditch shortly afterward. Police arrested the two occupants at the scene.
A search of the vehicle turned up approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, two handgun-style airguns and several tools that had recently been reported stolen. RCMP released a photo of some of the seized items.
Following the investigation, 37-year-old Billy Joe Villeneuve of Flying Dust First Nation was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Darren Durocher, 35, of Meadow Lake, faces a longer list of charges, including flight from police, possession of stolen property, five counts of failing to comply with a release order, four counts of possessing a firearm contrary to order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Durocher also faces additional charges — another count each of flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime, plus two more counts of breaching release conditions — stemming from earlier incidents investigated by Meadow Lake RCMP in the past month.
Both men appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Dec. 11.
