The initial investigation was launched in mid-June following the widespread social media circulation of a video showing a “verbal interaction” involving an LCSD employee. The video sparked significant online commentary and prompted both school officials and police to call for public calm during year-end student exams.

According to an update from the Lloydminster RCMP, investigators successfully identified and spoke with all individuals directly involved in the incident. After a thorough review of the complaints and evidence, police confirmed the matter does not warrant criminal charges.

“As a result of a thorough investigation, police have determined that no criminal offence has occurred,” the RCMP stated, adding that their file on the matter is now officially closed.

Police also noted that the non-criminal events captured in the video were not left unaddressed. The RCMP confirmed they were advised that the school division had already handled the situation through internal channels at the time the interaction originally occurred.

In a newly released statement, the LCSD acknowledged the conclusion of the police file and reiterated its ongoing partnership with local authorities.

“Lloydminster Catholic School Division would like to acknowledge the RCMP statement regarding the investigation of the social media allegations and subsequent finding of no criminal activity,” the division stated.

“Lloydminster Catholic School Division will continue to collaborate with the RCMP if any further information comes to light. Our priority is providing a safe, supportive learning environment.”

The school board noted that while it remains committed to transparency and accountability, it is legally limited in what details can be shared publicly regarding the situation.

“Navigating a complex personnel matter requires strict adherence to privacy legislation and due process, and we appreciate our community’s patience while we worked alongside law enforcement to handle this responsibly,” the statement continued.

In its previous updates, the LCSD emphasized that the interaction did not take place during school hours and maintained that there was never a safety concern regarding the ongoing operations of its schools.

With the police investigation officially resolved, both the RCMP and the school division are thanking the community for their patience and cooperation while the facts were being verified.

The division concluded its message by looking ahead to the break, stating, “We wish all students, staff, and families a safe, blessed summer. Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and commitment to Catholic education.”
