Construction is set to begin on a new Vermilion River bridge.

Work on the Highway 897 bridge replacement — located 16 kilometres north of Marwayne and 0.5 kilometres south of the North Saskatchewan River — is expected to start in August.
The project includes a short road realignment, a new bridge built immediately east of the current structure and the removal of the existing bridge.
Construction is expected to take two and a half years to complete, weather permitting. Crew members will work on-site six days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction, though travellers may experience speed reductions, lane closures and delays through the area.
The old bridge will be removed and the site reclaimed in the summer of 2028.
