The community is being invited to come together for the annual Walk of Remembrance in Lloydminster, an event that honours loved ones lost to suicide while providing support, healing and fellowship for families and friends affected by loss.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bud Miller All Seasons Park picnic shelter.
Held each September in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, the event acknowledges the profound impact suicide has on individuals, families and communities.
Organizers say the walk offers participants an opportunity to remember those they have lost while connecting with others who share similar experiences.
Guest speaker and activities
This year’s guest speaker will be Jeremy Allen, an Alberta funeral director, grief and loss educator, and founder of Death Ed., a platform dedicated to helping people better understand grief, loss and the healing process.
In addition to the memorial walk through Bud Miller Park, attendees can take part in an afternoon of reflection, music, refreshments and fellowship.
Organizers are also inviting participants to bring a photograph of their loved one for a Memory Board that will be displayed during the event, along with a lawn chair for seating.
The Walk of Remembrance Committee says the event is intended to create a supportive environment where those affected by suicide can honour memories, share experiences and find comfort in community connections.
The Walk of Remembrance has become an important annual gathering in the Border City, providing space for healing and remembrance in a community setting.
