Between July and September, officers responded to 5,300 calls for service in the Border City, including 2,157 emergency 911 calls. The detachment also completed 702 criminal record checks and lodged 464 prisoners in the Lloydminster cell block.

In total, RCMP members laid 1,195 criminal and provincial charges during the three-month period, including 348 charges for failing to comply with court orders—an increase of 67 from the first quarter. Officers also responded to 150 collisions and issued 13 trespass tickets.

Insp. Brian Nicholl of the Lloydminster RCMP said the detachment’s continued focus on proactive policing is making a difference.

“We’re seeing the results of our crime reduction initiatives and strategies begin to take hold,” said Nicholl. “While there’s always more work to do, it’s encouraging to see measurable progress across many categories of crime.”

Nicholl said public engagement has played a major role in recent successes. “When residents report suspicious activity, it helps us solve crimes that might otherwise go unsolved,” he said. “We can’t stress enough how valuable that information is to our investigations.”

The inspector noted that investigations vary widely in complexity and the time they take to complete. “Some calls can be wrapped up in half an hour, while others take dozens of hours and multiple officers,” he said. “Priority calls always come first, but our members often handle a range of service calls—from legitimate emergencies to false alarms and abandoned 911 calls—that all take time.”

Nicholl said the RCMP will continue to share quarterly updates to help residents better understand local policing efforts and outcomes. “Our goal is transparency and accountability,” he said. “We want people to know the scope of the work our team does every day to keep the community safe.”
