Lakeland College will welcome prospective students, families and community members to its annual Open House on Oct. 16 and 17, with events running at both the Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses.

Doors open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, giving visitors a chance to explore more than 50 programs and get a feel for what life as a Lakeland student actually looks like.

Guests will be able to meet instructors, current students and academic advisors while touring classrooms, labs, shops and studios. Depending on the campus and program area, tours may also include residence spaces, the Student-Managed Farm and the Energy Centre.

Lakeland says the event is built for two kinds of visitors: students who already know what they want to study, and those still weighing their options. Programs on offer span agriculture, business, energy, environmental sciences, fire and emergency services, health and wellness, human services, interior design technology, trades and university transfer studies — a lineup that has grown in recent years alongside investments like the one behind Canadian Natural’s $500,000 contribution to trades and energy programs.

Health-care hopefuls will find plenty to see as well, with Lakeland’s growing slate of programs including the one profiled when the nursing program first found its footing at the college.

Visitors will have the chance to apply to Lakeland for free during the two-day event, learn about admission requirements and student supports, enter prize draws and pick up Lakeland swag. Certain conditions apply to the free application offer.

The college points to a recent survey showing 96 per cent of graduates were satisfied with their program, while 99 per cent of employers said they’d hire a Lakeland graduate again.

More information and RSVP details are available through Lakeland College’s Open House webpage.
