The multi-sport artificial turf facility officially opened on Friday, Aug. 28, marking the completion of a major multi-million-dollar athletic upgrade for the Lloydminster Catholic School Division.

The project transformed the facility previously known as the Raiders Bowl into an 80,000-square-foot multi-sport FieldTurf playing surface. The upgraded venue is designed to support high-performance athletic training alongside local competitions in football, soccer, track and field, and rugby, while also serving as a venue for regional, provincial and national events.

Funding for the upgraded field came through a blend of government, corporate and municipal support. Major contributions included $1 million from the Government of Alberta, $350,000 from Canadian Natural, $210,000 from the RM of Wilton and $200,000 from the City of Lloydminster, alongside further backing from regional partners, local businesses and agricultural societies.

School officials and community leaders celebrated the facility’s official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the new school year.
