High-flying canine athletes will take over the Servus Sports Centre on Saturday as Lloydminster hosts the 2026 K9 Frisbee Worldwide Championship Alberta Regional.

Starting at 8:30 a.m., dog-and-handler teams will compete at the facility on the south end of the Border City. The local tournament is one of 31 regional qualifiers taking place across Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Netherlands between Sept. 5 and Sept. 13.
The global competition brings together thousands of competitors playing under identical rules, with scores combined across all locations to determine the international rankings.
Using the league’s Toss & Fetch format, each team participates in three 60-second rounds, accumulating points based on the distance of each successful catch. Individual teams will compete for regional titles while contributing scores to their local clubs.
The top eight scoring teams from each club will count toward the overall club standings. The 2026 K9 Frisbee Worldwide Champion Club and final individual rankings will be announced following the conclusion of the final regional event on Sept. 13.
The K9 Frisbee Worldwide League includes more than 5,000 teams across 200 active clubs globally.
