The day, held on Sept. 10, welcomed new students to the school and helped senior students develop leadership skills.

More than 60 LCHS students planned the day under the direction of leadership teacher Dwayne Jeffery, who said the event builds teamwork among high school students while helping Grade 6 students transition into their new school.
“We use this as a team builder for my leadership team,” said Jeffery. “We plan activities and run them, but the goal is also to get the Grade 6s comfortable in their new school environment.
“What’s cool about it today is every kid will lead,” said Jeffery. “That’s what today is about.”

The partnership between LCHS and Bishop Lloyd has become a tradition and leadership students have helped with the event for over a decade.
Participation was originally for Grade 7 students, however, a realignment of grades now means Grade 6s’ participating instead.
