Replica firearm at Lloydminster City Hall leads to charges

Lloydminster RCMP say a 35-year-old Saskatchewan man is facing multiple charges after a report that a firearm was pointed at people inside city hall.

Mounties say they were called to city hall on Jan. 8 after receiving a report of a weapon being brandished. Officers arrived within minutes and intercepted a suspect as he was leaving the area.

Police say the man was arrested without incident. A search incident to arrest uncovered a replica firearm. No injuries were reported.

Stephen Thunderblanket, 35, of Cut Knife, Sask., is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Thunderblanket was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster provincial court on Jan. 13.
