The Shine Christian Academy is kicking up its fundraising efforts with a pair of events, one in April with the other in May.
Local singer/songwriter Amanda Koopa and comedian Leland Klassen are set to perform at the April 17 comedy night. The event takes place at City Church in Lloydminster, with doors opening at 6 p.m.
The homeschool academy hosts fundraisers throughout the year to help them cover costs of running the school.
“In addition to covering operating costs, our fundraising efforts help support field trips, new learning opportunities and enriching educational experiences,” said Deanna Franklin, president of the Shine Christian Academy.
“To make this possible, we work hard throughout the year to raise funds. As such, our Comedy Night is an especially important event for our co-operative.”
The next event for Shine following the comedy night is the Mother’s Day Tea. The event, happening on May 9, will be entering its fourth year.
Shine Christian Academy is a homeschool co-operative operated by a parent-run board with campuses in Lloydminster and Streamstown.
