The initiative, which launched for the 2026 season on Monday, March 23, empowers peace officers, bylaw officers, RCMP and Lloydminster Fire Rescue personnel to issue “tickets” to residents caught in the act of being a good citizen.

Whether it’s a youth wearing a helmet, a pedestrian properly using a crosswalk or a resident helping a neighbour, officials say the goal is to reinforce safety and community spirit.

“The Positive Ticketing Program creates meaningful moments between residents and Lloydminster’s first responders,” Mayor Gerald Aalbers said in a release. “These interactions help build familiarity and trust, while recognizing the small actions that contribute to a strong and respectful community.”

Those “pulled over” for good behaviour will receive a ticket redeemable for small rewards provided by local business partners. The city noted that several new businesses have joined the program for its sophomore year.

Tayte Goddard, manager of municipal enforcement, said the program is particularly effective in building bridges with the city’s younger demographic.

“It helps create positive, approachable interactions with residents, especially youth, and strengthens relationships with our enforcement and emergency services,” Goddard said.

The program is now active across the city. Residents looking for more information on the initiative or a list of participating reward partners can visit the city’s website at Lloydminster.ca/PositiveTicket.
