It’s time to tee off to support your favourite local college athletes.
The Lakeland College Rustlers are pleased to be hosting their annual golf tournament with all funds raised supporting championship travel. This year’s tournament is presented and sponsored by NextGen Automation.
“Our teams just completed the most successful season in our program’s history. Many of our teams went deep into Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championships with our women’s basketball team advancing to nationals where they won bronze,” said Rustlers athletics director Alan Rogan.
“Our success does come with increased costs. We appreciate NextGen stepping forward to be our presenting sponsor. The golf tournament is our largest fundraiser. NextGen’s support, along with that of our sponsors and our golfers, is critical to our program’s success,” said Rogan.
The 18-hole Texas scramble tournament is being held at the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre on Aug. 30 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Registration is $250 per person ($100 tax receipt) or $1,000 for a corporate team ($450 tax receipt).
NextGen Automation has been involved in the Rustlers golf tourney in previous years and decided to take on the role of presenting sponsor for this year’s event.
“It’s an honour to be the presenting sponsor of this exciting tournament and to support these young student-athletes,” said NextGen president Troy Schmeichel.
“We remain committed to giving back to the people and communities that support us. We wish the Rustlers much success, both on and off the field.”
The Rustlers are still accepting sponsors as well as players for the upcoming tournament. If you or someone you know is interested in playing or sponsoring the tournament, please contact Sheray Thomas at sheray.thomas@lakelandcollege.ca or call 780-853-1038.
