Big Brothers Big Sisters Lloydminster is celebrating a milestone anniversary in the community later this month.
To kick off celebrations there will be a barbecue on Sept.18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the community. Big Brothers Big Sisters executive director, Jacqueline Weed, says this event is essential to the organization for many reasons.
“We are holding this event to create awareness that we are recruiting mentors. We always have a waiting list for mentors, and this event will help us celebrate 30 years of mentoring as well,” she explained. “Mentors don’t need any special skills, just a desire to make a big difference and commit the time and consistency required.”
The time commitment, says Weed, can depend on the program and how involved you want to be.
They offer a second option if you can’t attend the noon-hour gathering. An open house will occur the same day between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Both events will be held at the business office on 49th Ave.
