The Lloydminster Lancers squeaked out a win against the Calgary United Pacific Projects (NW) Flames over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The two teams met in Lloydminster at the Centennial Civic Centre entertaining a large Lloydminster crowd ready for hockey.
The first period of play was largely quiet with neither team finding the back of the net. The second period roared open as Calgary came out with a quick goal just a minute into play. Late into the second, Calgary once again found the back of the net short-handed this time putting them up 2-0 exiting the second.
A slow start in the third period gave the Lancers space to reset and find the back of the net twice tying the game at two all.
Just a minute into overtime the Lancers sealed the deal with a goal taking the content 3-2 over the visiting flames.
