The funding commitment, approved during the Oct. 26 regular council meeting, is required by Nov. 1 to unlock nearly $40 million in provincial and federal grant funding.
The regional infrastructure project will replace the oldest wing of the Pioneer Lodge, which has reached the end of its serviceable life and faces foundation challenges.
The redevelopment will replace 41 aging lodge units with 65 modern suites, providing a net gain in capacity along with an expanded commercial kitchen, day lounge, library, chapel, and fitness space.
Regional partners sharing in the total $5.04-million municipal investment ask include the County of Vermilion River, the Village of Kitscoty, the Village of Marwayne and the Village of Paradise Valley. Construction is targeted to begin in spring 2027.
