On Oct. 28, Maidstone RCMP responded to a location in the RM of Britannia after receiving reports of human remains being found.
“The RCMP is currently working with the coroner’s office to confirm the identity of the individual,” stated RCMP spokesperson Keely Grasser.
However, they have linked this to the case of Serayne Kematch, the missing man from Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Serayne was last seen on Wednesday, April 10, walking along Highway #3 near Alcurve in the RM of Britannia. Witnesses reported to police that he planned to walk back through the rural area to Onion Lake.
Meanwhile, family and friends have posted multiple social media updates about the October 28 discovery. Many of them identified the individual as Kematch.
The Coroner’s office can take considerable time to confirm individuals’ identities.
