Bonnyville Coun. Kayla Blanchette is taking up the mantle of Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta's (FCSSAA) president.
Blanchette made her intentions on running for presidency known in September. At the time, Bonnyville Council had to pass a motion in order for her to run. Support poured in from around the table and Blanchette began her journey.
She says it is an honour to be elected to the position.
“My highlight of the week (and perhaps my year) was the incredible honour of being elected as FCSSAA Board President this morning (Nov. 15). I’m truly ecstatic to take on this leadership role and work collaboratively with our Board and members across the province to be the tireless advocate for FCSS programs,” said Blanchette.
She was photographed with outgoing-president Murtaza Jamaly.
“A heartfelt thank-you to outgoing-president Murtaza Jamaly for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and service. His contributions have left a lasting impact on the FCSS community, and undoubtedly a lifelong friendship between us,” said Blanchette.
She wraps up her thank yous by saying she’s looking forward to another exciting year.
Congratulations poured in on social media as well.
The Town of Bonnyville, in a Facebook post, congratulated Blanchette on her win.
“We would like to congratulate Councillor Kayla Blanchette on being elected as FCSSAA Board President,” they said.
FCSSAA also took to Facebook to congratulate their new president.
“President Kayla, we are looking forward to an amazing future of continued success for the FCSSAA and FCSS teams!”
