Bonnyville Coun. Kayla Blanchette will be running for president of the Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA).
For Blanchette to run for the presidency council had to pass an additional motion to approve her running in this capacity.
Coun. Byron Johnson, who also sits on the FCSSAA spoke about Blanchette and her passion for the association.
”I sit on FCSSAA, Coun. Blanchette has a heart of gold when it comes to that organization,” he said. “It’s a deep passion of hers, her knowledge in that organization is huge.”
Johnson said having a local member being president would be important for the municipality.
“Having a local member being the president with that organization will be very big they regularly meet with the ministers, premier and things like that so it does help bring attention back to our municipality.”
Someone raised the question of whether there would be any additional cost to the municipality if Blanchette became president. She confirmed there would be none.
The motion was passed by council and Mayor Elisa Brosseau had well wishes for Blanchette as she runs for president.
“With that, we’re happy to see you represent us I know you’ll represent us well and good luck in your campaign.”
