The Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre (LGCC) remains temporarily closed after a possible asbestos disturbance was identified last week.
Air testing on Nov. 20 revealed asbestos levels above allowable limits. Initial assessments suggested the issue was confined to a small area. To ensure safety, the City of Lloydminster conducted additional air and surface tests throughout the building on Nov. 27.
Surface samples have been sent to a laboratory for analysis, and the city awaits those results. Meanwhile, the building remains closed to the public as a precaution.
City officials are in regular contact with the Lloydminster Curling Club and organizers of the Astec curling event, scheduled for January 2025, to provide updates on the situation.
