Vermilion RCMP investigating following death of a dog

The Vermilion RCMP are investigating after receiving a complaint regarding the death of a dog.

On Aug. 15, RCMP began investigating. According to the initial report, the pet owner had entrusted the care of their dog to another person. Upon attempting to retrieve their pet, the dog was discovered dead.

RCMP have charged an individual in connection with this incident.

Tyler Schira, a 32-year-old resident of Vermilion has been charged with, causing uncessary suffering to an animal and failing to provide for an animal in care.

Schira is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.

RCMP say they remain committed to ensuring the well-being of animals and holding individuals accountable for actions that put them at risk.
