Bandits beat Tigers, advance to final

The Lloydminster Bandits are heading to the North Eastern Alberta Jr. B Hockey League (NEAJBHL) final.

The Bandits beat the Vermilion Tigers 5-4 in a very physical Game 7 at the Centennial Civic Centre on March 12.

Vermilion’s Cade Meiklejohn was first to tickle the twine on the power play at 9:23. Meiklejohn then made it a 2-0 game with :05 left in the first.

Lloydminster’s Jayden Plamondon got the Bandits on the board at 19:14 of the second period before also scoring the equalizer 32 seconds later.

Rhett Romanchuck got the lead back for the Tigers on the power play at 10:30. Plamondon, however, tied the game and completed a hat trick at 8:48.

Ryan Nelson, however, regained the Tigers’ lead with 12 second remaining in the second.

Fresh for the third, Lloyd’s Colton Parker came out firing and got an unassisted goal 41 seconds into the period for a 4-4 game.

Corvan Stewart was the hero of the night with a go-ahead goal at 12:58. Assists went to Brady Gamble and Joel Webb.

The Bandits will face the Wainwright Bisons in the NEAJBHL final.
