At the May 20 meeting, council discussed appointing Charles McDonald and Sean Paterson as pest control inspectors.

The two individuals, who are employed by the city, will receive compensation for the extra duties they would be taking on.
“There is a per diem paid for these two individuals on a biweekly basis,” said Don Stang, executive manager of operations. “On every paycheck there’s a compensation for the pest control officers.”
Stang also gave a breakdown of what the compensation for the individuals would look like.
“I believe it works out to about $1,800 per employee per year,” said Stang. “Then, the city provides any supplies that may be required in the act of doing pest control for the City of Lloydminster.”
Mayor Gerald Aalbers asked if the pest control inspectors would be working at the Neale Edmunds Stormwater Management Complex.
“Our pest control officer has full authority to deal with pests, particularly beavers, along our storm complex and we have been dealing with those for a significant amount of time,” said Stang.
Council voted in favour of appointing McDonald and Paterson as pest control inspectors for a five-year term ending April 30, 2030.
