A collision along Highway 641 shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 25 lead to a vehicle fire and triggered a fast-moving grass blaze.
Dry conditions and strong winds helped spread flames into nearby fields.

Marwayne Fire & Rescue responded immediately, deploying a pumper and tanker to the scene. A county operations officer provided support on the scene.
Onion Lake Fire, already dispatched due to the border’s proximity, was also on scene battling the growing field fire.
Crews from both departments worked together to contain the fire and cool the burning vehicle.

Firefighters stopped the spread and confirmed no fire extension into surrounding areas. The collision resulted in no injuries.
Officials say recent rainfall has not been enough to lower the fire risk in all parts of the County.
The County remains under a fire restriction, allowing campfires but prohibiting most open burning.
Fire risk levels continue to be assessed daily as conditions remain dry in several areas.
The County thanked volunteer firefighters, Onion Lake Fire, dispatch centres, and staff for their coordinated response.
