Vermilion RCMP received a call on July 6 regarding smashed windows at the Vermilion Provincial Building. Upon arrival, officers discovered six Alberta Sheriff vehicles also suffered damage.

Officers also reported significant damage to the interior and exterior of the Children’s Rehabilitation Services building and the Vermilion McDonald’s location.

Bodurka faces the following charges:

  • Mischief to vehicle over $5,000 (x6)
  • Mischief over $5,000 (x2)
  • Break and enter to commit mischief over $5,000

RCMP say damage to the courthouse and vehicles is worth more than $1 million. McDonald’s damage is estimated at $50,000.

“I wanted to start by sending a special thank you to the two youths who reported the incident and stayed on scene in order to give their witness statement,” said Cpl. Brittany Pegg of the Vermilion RCMP.

“This perfectly highlights how community vigilance, combined with the efficiency of your Vermilion RCMP, effective partnerships and assistance from other RCMP detachments and specialized units can allow us to keep Vermilion safe, together.”

Bodurka remains in custody after seeing a justice of the peace and is set to appear in Vermilion court on July 8.
